The Nazareno-villages are located in a beautiful environment in the countryside outside of the centres Forataeza and Recife. The children are divided into houses according to their age. This enables them to form new friendships quickly. Over time, the houses develop a sound independence in their daily life. Co-workers from the citier around the village, who got employed by the OPN, take care about the children all around the clock.
At first the children have to habituate with this new situation in the Nazareno-village. We want them to feel compfortable here and to stop wishing themselves back in the streets. Birthday-parties, excursions and even the animals in the villages are helping us to achieve this.
Upon the day of arrival each child attends primary school. All our schools are officially recognised by the state. Each child gets individual lessons according to his level of education, his capacities and talents. Later on, at the age of 15, a childs school education is complemented with practical vocational training. This allows the boys to learn how to fix various items in our workshop room for electronics. They learn how to fix everything from computers and bicycles to broken tables and refrigerators. According to each individual qualities we will support a specialisation. Extremely talented children will be supported in their quest to attend university.
